Krista Stovel is a designer based in Portland, Oregon.

I’m a versatile and curious creative, passionate about bringing ideas to life in thoughtful, design-driven ways. Over a decade ago, I co-founded Make It Good and Nell & Mary, which later became North of West. From 2012 to 2022, I led the brand as Creative Director—shaping our visual identity across women’s and children’s apparel, home goods, and retail spaces. I directed photo shoots, designed prints and products, curated materials and color palettes, and managed the creative operations that kept everything running smoothly. As the brand grew, I dove deeper into print design, color theory, and material selection, and helped craft our beloved retail storefront in downtown Portland.

I hold a BFA in Interior Design from the Design Institute of San Diego and a BA in Art History from the University of Washington.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me swimming in cold rivers on warm days, inventing new recipes, or hiking and biking around Portland with my family.
